Notes from Pembrokeshire

The Longest Days

June has always been one of my favourite months.

The workshop is warm, the garden seems to grow overnight, and every morning begins with a cup of coffee on the back doorstep before the day properly starts.

Some mornings are planned.

Others are gently interrupted by a patch of calendula that suddenly needs picking, or blue cornflowers dancing in the breeze. Somehow, the hammock always has to wait.

This month has been full of little seasonal rituals.

Bundles of lavender now hang drying, ready to decorate our Christmas gift boxes later in the year—a reminder that, in a small workshop, Christmas often begins in the middle of summer.

In the kitchen, I've been making a fiery batch of Fire Cider, hoping it will be ready just in time for the colder months. Shelves are slowly filling with jars of pickled wild garlic and home-grown radishes, while bunches of herbs dry quietly, ready to become comforting winter teas.

There's something deeply satisfying about preparing now for seasons still to come.

The workshop has been just as busy.

Fresh batches of our Botanical Scrub Soap are curing on the shelves, ready for gardeners' hands after long afternoons spent digging, planting and weeding. It's a soap I've been making since the very beginning of The Narberth Soap Co., and every summer I find myself reaching for it after a day outside.

This month has also been one of quiet changes.

New packaging is beginning to take shape, new labels are arriving, and every small decision feels like another step towards creating a brand that truly reflects who we are.

Rooted in Wales.

Crafted with botanicals.

Slowly, thoughtfully and always inspired by the countryside around us.

As June draws to a close, I'm grateful for long evenings, busy hands, muddy boots, birdsong, and all the simple things that make this little corner of Pembrokeshire feel like home.

Thank you for following along.

I hope July brings you a little time outdoors, good food shared with family, and a few quiet moments to simply enjoy the season.

Until next month,

Alex
